Black Bean Chipotle Dip | Everyday Dorie

With a can of black bean, a few other ingredients and a food processor, you’d get the black bean chipotle dip in just a matter of seconds. It’s a toss, a smash and a stir and the dip will be at hand. You may even call it a salsa. The dip/salsa is a thick blend of spiced beans. It can be as spicy or as citrusy as you like it. Adjusting the amount of chipotle powder or lime juice, you can fine tune the flavor profile.

The ingredients are similar to what makes up a typical salsa: a can of beans, cumin, salt, chipotle chile powder, lime zest and juice, chopped red onions, fresh cilantro and chopped jalapeño. There is no cooking involved; even non-cooks can put together the dip/salsa with the least amount of effort.

There is no picture of the black bean chipotle dip in Everyday Dorie. You wonder why? I can speculate that the dip is neither eye catching nor photogenic. Not by any measures that garner our attention, lest excitement. To be fair, it’s promising when you see the shiny blackness of the beans when you open the can. However, once processed the blackness dissolves into a mush of gray. The mix is not the most appetizing food you’d look forward to eating.

Milky Way Black Hole

Milky Way Black Hole

Unlike the black hole in our galaxy, there was an immense amount of excitement, oohs and aahs yesterday. I came to light for the first time we got a direct image of the black hole — what we thought was unseeable. Instead of taking a picture of the black hole, I tried getting a good picture of a black bean chipotle dip. The excitement may not be as great, but the intensity and mindfulness is present. Above all, we get to eat the dip and enjoy it.

I was totally laughing…it was like you read my mind…this “blackish blob” was very difficult to photograph and make appealing hahaha. The good news is, we managed somehow and the dip was delicious! 😍
